FEB: The voice of business in Belgium

The Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (FEB) is the only multi-sector employers' organisation representing companies in all three regions of Belgium. Its members, Belgium's leading sectoral federations, represent companies in key industrial and service sectors.

FEB is the voice of business in Belgium. It aims to:

  1. work towards creating an optimal business environment;
  2. promote business interests at federal, European and international level;
  3. ensure consistency in the message entrepreneurs deliver and the actions they take.

FEB aims to help create jobs for the future and ensure that these jobs complement each other, especially in the service, industrial and construction sectors.

FEB is firmly committed to ensuring that it is open to outside activities. Accordingly, it organises a wide range of meetings and information sessions at national, European (European Business Summit) and international level.

FEB's activities cover all business-related matters and are supported by member federations' expertise and knowledge of events on the ground. More specifically, FEB is involved in economic, social, legal and fiscal issues. The organisation has outlined its priorities in Strategy 2010, a range of proposals that aim to boost the Belgian economy by stimulating economic growth and creating more jobs.

FEB in figures

FEB has 38 full members, all of which are professional sectoral federations, as well  as a number of applicant and corresponding members. All in all, it represents more than 50,000 businesses with a majority of SMEs.

FEB represents approximately 80% of the workers in the private sector.

FEB represents companies in nearly 150 national, European and international bodies.

Values

Each of the initiatives developed by FEB is based on a range of values: the social market economy, sustainable development, business ethics, corporate governance, consultation and self-regulation.

Media

FEB wants to raise awareness of its priorities, views and opinions. It uses a number of different media to communicate effectively with its stakeholders: sectoral federation members, companies, political decision-makers, the media and the general public. These media include:

  • The FEB website www.vbo-feb.be, where press releases, the latest opinions, publications, analyses and explanatory memos are published;
  • Forward, the monthly magazine for decision-makers and CEOs;
  • Infor, a weekly newsletter for member federations, their member companies, the political and academic worlds and the press;
  • Focus, each issue of which concentrates on a specific topic (for example Focus on the Economy, Focus on the Lisbon-agenda);
  • Brochures and publications on topics such as subsidies for innovation, SME financing, corporate governance and companies and human rights.
