CO2 emissions reduction, price and security of supply are the main challenges of the energy transition. By 2030, system operators plan to invest €31 billion in their infrastructure to facilitate the energy transition and contribute to decarbonisation. The electrification of society is a growing underlying trend. System operators are working every day to upgrade and modernise their grids. Our gas networks also have to go green by integrating low-carbon molecules such as biomethane, synthetic methane and hydrogen. The system operators are working together within Synergrid to make this energy transition a reality. Priorities must be defined with stakeholders, including governments, regulators, suppliers and customers. We all need to be moving in the same direction. Consistency and an overall perspective are crucial.
